PDF Editor Files never leave your device

Edit PDF files online — free and private

Change text, sign, fill in forms, highlight, redact and organize pages right in your browser. Drop a PDF or an image to start — your file never leaves your device.

How to edit a PDF

  1. Click the box above or drag your file into it. PDFs open straight in the editor; an image opens on a blank page, where you can resize and move it.
  2. Pick a tool: Edit text to change a line that is already in the PDF, Text to type new text, Sign for a signature, Image, Shapes, Draw, Highlight, Whiteout or Redact. Click or drag on the page. Press Ctrl+F to find text.
  3. Use the thumbnails to reorder pages (drag them), rotate, delete or insert pages: blank, from another PDF or from an image. Ctrl+Z undoes any step.
  4. Click Download to save the edited PDF.

Everything you can do

Frequently asked questions

How do I edit a PDF for free?

Open your PDF above, pick a tool such as Text, Sign or Highlight, click on the page, and download the result. Everything is free and happens in your browser.

Can I change the existing text in my PDF?

Yes. Pick Edit text and click a line: the editor matches its font, size and color, and you can retype it. The new text covers the original line. To remove confidential text from the file for good, use Redact.

Is it safe? Are my PDFs uploaded?

No upload at all. PDF Editor opens and edits the PDF inside your browser, so contracts, IDs and bank statements never leave your device. The fonts are served by PDF Editor, too — no third-party requests.

How do I redact a PDF permanently?

Use Redact and drag over the content, or press Ctrl+F, search for a word and click Redact all. When you download, pages with redactions are saved as images with the boxes burned in, so the hidden text is removed from the file and cannot be copied or searched.

What is the difference between Whiteout and Redact?

Whiteout only covers content visually — the original text stays in the file and can still be copied out. Redact removes it for good. Use Redact for anything confidential.

Can I search for text in a PDF?

Yes. Press Ctrl+F or click Find. The search ignores upper and lower case and accents, and you can highlight or redact every match in one step.

Can I reorder, rotate or delete pages?

Yes. Drag thumbnails to reorder, use the rotate and delete buttons on each thumbnail, or click the + between thumbnails to insert a blank page, pages from another PDF or an image. Deleted pages are removed from the file completely.

Is it really free? Are there watermarks?

Yes, it is free with no sign-up, no page limits and no watermark on your PDF.

Does it work on a phone or tablet?

Yes. It works in Safari, Chrome and other modern mobile browsers. Tap Focus for a full-screen editor, use Pages to reorder pages, and sign with your finger.
